9 shot in Florida boardwalk shooting, 3 suspects at large

9 people, ranging from 1 to 65 years old, were injured during a shooting in Hollywood, Florida on Monday.


The Hollywood Oceanfront Boardwalk was a popular tourist spot on Memorial Day when multiple suspects got into an altercation on one of the boardwalk's active stretches. Around 7 p.m. gunfire rang out and people scattered. In the ensuing chaos, 9 people were shot, one the victims only 1-year-old. In total, four were children from the ages of 1 to 17, while the five adults ranged from 25 to 65 years of age.


Police have revealed that six of the victims are still hospitalized but in stable condition, while three have been released.


Hollywood mayor issued a statement following the shooting stating, "I am deeply saddened and angered by the Memorial Day shooting in our city that resulted in injuries to innocent bystanders. Our thoughts go out to the victims and their families during this difficult time and our prayers for a speedy recovery. "


As of Tuesday, police have apprehended two of the suspects they believe were involved in the initial altercation. However, there is still an active search for the three suspected gunmen. Police have not yet released the name of those arrested or injured.
