Once again, COVID-19 cases are on the rise in the U.S. This week marks the fourth week cases have been steadily rising nationwide. The northeast states are currently experiencing the highest rates of community spread.
States such as Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York have at least over four thousand new cases per day. In Cumberland County, there was one case for every three hundred and sixty eight people in the last two weeks.
Former FDA Commissioner Dr. Scott Gottlieb says new infections are primarily occurring in younger unvaccinated individuals. At this point, nearly one in four adults in the U.S. has been vaccinated, giving hope that we could potentially avoid a “fourth wave”.
