Police are searching for a man allegedly responsible for a teen’s overdose and death. Major Mahari Winfield Defreitas is on the Lower Allen Township police department's most wanted list for allegedly selling fentanyl-laced pills to a 16-year-old.
Back in October of 2023, the Cumberland County Police Department issued a warrant for Major Defreitas after an investigation of a suspected overdose in Frederick, MD. Security footage shows the two meeting outside the home in Maryland. Despite the Emergency Medical Services attempting life-saving measures, the 16-year-old boy was declared dead at the scene.
After a blood test, the coroner found the victim had tested positive for marijuana and fentanyl in the blood. The cause of death was ruled acute fentanyl toxicity. According to the Lower Allen Police, an investigation of cell phone and social media records shows Defreitas had been speaking with the teen about “three blue pills.” These pills were recovered at the scene and lab results revealed they contained fentanyl in them.
A warrant has been issued for Defreitas’ as of Feb. 9. If you have any information, submit an anonymous tip here.
